This page explains what cookies and storage mechanisms bitus.ro uses. Short version: the site does not set non-essential cookies, does not use analytics, and does not integrate advertising networks. The document follows Romanian Law 506/2004 (transposing the ePrivacy Directive) and the GDPR.
1. What are cookies
Cookies are small text files saved by your browser on your device when you visit a site. They are used to remember preferences (language, authenticated session) or, in other cases, to track user behaviour for analytics and advertising. Beyond cookies, browsers offer similar mechanisms (localStorage, sessionStorage) that fall under the same rules.
2. What cookies we use
Currently none. bitus.ro does not set non-essential cookies. We do not use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, Hotjar, Cloudflare Insights, YouTube/Vimeo/Maps embeds or any other third-party services that set cookies.
3. Strictly necessary storage
We only use storage mechanisms strictly necessary for the site to work:
- Polylang language preference — a cookie that remembers your chosen language (RO or EN) across pages so you don’t have to set it on every navigation. Duration: 1 year. Per Law 506/2004 art. 4(5), it does not require consent.
- WordPress session — only if you log into /wp-admin (the admin panel). Duration: until logout. Required for authentication.
- Polylang session and technical WordPress cookies (e.g., for CSRF protection in forms) when active.
None of these are used for tracking or marketing.
4. Server logs (legitimate interest)
The web server records technical logs: IP address, date and time of the request, accessed URL, response code, and browser user agent. These logs are kept for 30 days for security, abuse prevention and troubleshooting (legitimate interest, GDPR art. 6(1)(f)). They are not used for visitor profiling.
5. Contact form
If a contact form exists on the site, the technical mechanism may use a temporary anti-spam cookie (timestamp and WordPress nonces). It does not retain personal data and expires when the session closes.
6. Third-party content
The site does not load content from third-party services (fonts, video, maps, social embeds). All fonts are self-hosted. This means no personal data (such as your IP address) is sent to Google, Meta, or other networks.
7. If this policy changes
If we ever add services that set non-essential cookies (for example, an analytics solution), we will display a consent banner upfront, per Romanian Law 506/2004, and update this page. The banner will respect current rules: explicit opt-in, “Reject all” as easy as “Accept all”, granular per-category controls, and the ability to withdraw consent.
8. How to disable cookies in your browser
Modern browsers allow you to block or delete cookies. Official documentation:
